You can use the Dark Flight as a compass! How is this? Hold the watch flat in your palm. When the GMT hand is set to the local time (hour and minute hand time), point the hour hand in the sun's direction. The GMT hand will be pointing north. The ceramic bezel on the Dark Flight has 24 clicks. One-click for each hour.It clicks to each hour marker with pin point accuracy. Two hours ahead? Several hours later... the 5-axis CNC presents us with a watch case. Then it's polished by handand DLC-coated. When the result satisfies the technician, the case is flawless.
Image this. You're at altitude. The sun is setting. The sun would create a glare on an ordinary watch glass. On your Dark Flight GMT, it has not one, but TWO levels of AR(anti-reflective) coating. What this means is you can read the time with accuracy from all angles. You won't find this AR coating on Rolex's GMT-Master.
In combat situations, having perfectly "synchronized" time amongst the entire team is required. How do you sync a watch? Well you can't unless it is a "hacking" movement. The movement in our Raptor does hack. Hacking means when the crown is pulled out to its furthest position, it stops the second-hand cold.
Basically ‘freezing’ the time.
The team will all set their hours and minutes... and then all but one team member will pull their crowns out at :00 seconds, stopping the watch. Now, one team member who left his crown in will count down "5... 4... 3... 2... 1... SET"
So when his seconds-hand reaches :00 and after he says "set" the rest of the team will push their crowns in, restarting their watch. This way every team member's watch will be synced down to the second.
In regular life, we'd probably sync our watch to our iPhone's clock. But it’s still a cool “military” feature!
Just like the military's firearms, we coat the casein the same DLC coating. DLC stands for diamond-like carbon... and it makes the stainless steel even tougher and scratch resistant.
It's used on firearms, after all. DLC is a hard black, non-reflective coating. It runs 70+ on the Rockwell "C" scale. Divers are constantly banging their watches underwater. This professional DLC coating not only looks great... but it keeps the watch looking new.
