Members of the military and law enforcement were sick and tired of breaking their straps off. The problem with most watch straps is they’re attached to the case with spring bars. All it takes is a decent tug and the spring bar is going to snap. The watch will fall off, and that’s that.
The Recon LX1 does NOT use wimpy spring bars. We use screw bars which are impossible to pop off. The strap is actually screwed to a shaft that goes through the watch head itself. This is the ultimate military method. You could wrap this watch around a pipe and hang from it and it would hold you.
And we can’t forget about the dual prong tang buckle. Where most watches have one prong, the Recon LX1 has 2. Say if 1 prong rips through the strap hole, You still have the other prong holding your watch to your wrist. An ordinary watch with a single prong would fall off. Again… rugged military design.

his tactical watch is not a dive watch. In order for it to be considered a dive watch, it needs to be at least water resistant to 200 feet. The Recon LX1 is water-tight to 150 feet. Now I doubt you’ve ever swam to 150 feet - even if you’re a frogman. Waterproofing the 5950 to 600 or even 200 feet would have quadrupled its price for a “feature” you will never use. 150 feet is pretty damn deep still! That’s like swimming down 15 stories!
